Dear SK …Now that Thanksgiving is in the past, thoughtful well wishes have trailed off, and a Grim Reality is fumferring (v. to fumfer) around the doorframe, let’s shoo him off to the end of the road. S.K. …God Bless you my brother! Wishing you and the Missus and Spotted Critters a few moments of contentment today. Thank you for your great writing efforts that bring fresh air and moments of reflection and to many of us.
Got to thinking about your need to stay financially afloat. Forgive me as I’ve moved into Fix It mode. At least a couple ways to run this: long term and short term. As you’re thinking of transitioning into a desired work from home job, some possible options. Good news….at least in Southern Utah jobs are numerous. More Help Wanted signs than Carter’s has pills. Have you thought of retraining? After the flood in the wash behind my home, even the head of the Board of Supervisors was running heavy equipment to do the clearing. If I was younger I’d look into heavy equipment operator, crane operator. My training was water treatment/water distribution but the big gov’t has it’s paws all over that now….meaning Pecks. Keep small and less likely to tangle with Pecks. HVAC, electrician, plumber, local run truck driver. More options to get on the job training. My husband was a mining engineer, projects came to an end so he’d go wood cutting and surveying for nearby ranchers for extra money. Have you seen the cost of a cord of wood lately! Lastly, talk with folks you know to get the word out and pick their brains.
I wrote you a couple of years ago yet haven’t surfaced since then. Was in ill health and had spare time on my hands. My health is now crackin’, immune system firing on all cylinders, hard to hold me down, am doing and have little time to write which is just fine with me. The day after Thanksgiving is the perfect day to be still, reflect and send you good tidings and well wishes. God Speed to you and yours. Lots of good folks hold you in our prayers.

RFF, I’ve missed hearing from you…so glad you’re doing better health-wise.

I’m looking EVERYWHERE and talking to everyone I know…your counsel is solid and wise. I’m confident the Lord will provide. And if He doesn’t, I’ll just stage a coup and become a local warlord. One of my longtime ambitions, ya know…

Many thanks for your prayers and your kindness. I will make a point of praying specifically for you and your family tonight. God’s blessings to you, brother.

    Love that photo so much!!

I honestly believe that ‘intuition’ is most often the voice of The Holy Spirit, and seeing that photo, I had a specific thought:
“See S.K., your intuition was ‘spot on’ in regard to those two doggies – so, it must certainly ‘be’ that you can trust whatever it tells you about your job situation.”

Now, admittedly, the above quoted thought would be ‘my’ intuition, which may not be as accurate as yours, but it seemed like something I should share.

    Happy ‘Day after’ Thanksgiving!!

Several hours late to the party, but better late than…well you know.

This was our first holiday on our own and I discovered how nice it can be to celebrate something without a crowd. (It also makes the clean up much easier.)

S.K., keep your chin up, better days are ahead.

Grandad, we are old…we are supposed to be late.

    Annie, my sentiments exactly.

Coming in too late [as usual] but I just wanted to say that the photograph gave me a huge smile and brightened a dull November day.

You’re in my thoughts every day, wishing you happy days.

Granddad, so good to hear from you. I’ve been amiss commenting over at your place…hope all is well with you and yours. You’re one of the good ‘uns!

I realize thanksgiving day is nearly over, so I will speedily wish you and yours a very happy day, and many more to come as we wind down our year, and celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior. Best wishes and hopes that you will navigate your way through a difficult dilemma, and continue to find blessings in your life. Thinking of you and praying for you.
