I once was a True Believer in many things; I have discarded most of those things.  I have failed in a spectacular fashion at most of what I’ve attempted in my lifetime, and at most of what I’ve tried to be.  This blog is a chronicle and a framework, a confession and a mask, an index of what remains and of what I hope may yet come to pass.

I reside on a small farm with my  remarkable wife, my animals, and too many books. After several erratic and puzzling decades of life, I once again have both hands on the steering wheel. I compose in pencil on graph paper, and when I type my work for publication, I do so while listening to music that my friends still have a hard time believing I enjoy.
