“To You Today”
Almost every morning before I leave for work, Mrs. Orr will say something along the lines of “I hope someone is really kind to you today.” It’s one of those things that I know she sincerely means, and I take it in that vein, but I rarely think about it once my day begins. This is probably because on most days, no one is “really kind” to me. A Bleak Time
Our son in Texas advised us this morning that he’s being laid off from his company. He and our daughter-in-law have two small sons and things have been lean even before all this mess started. If you are so inclined, please say a prayer for Josh and his family. The fact that he asked us to pray for them is very telling, as he is a very stoic gent. Thank you, my friends. ~ S.K. Orr

Seemed To Mock
The other morning, I kept watching the moon as I drove down the mountain to work. Waning in its phase, it hung in the air with just the bottom crescent illuminated. The image was like a photo negative of a smiley-face logo but with the eyes closed. The lunar face seemed to mock me as I stole glances at it. Looking back now from the vantage point of week’s end, the impression of mockery doesn’t seem so fantastical.
