Two Thousand Twenty-Four

Jinx basks in the warmth of the last fire of the year

I wanted to wish a Happy New Year to each of my dear readers.

May this year be a healthy, prosperous one, and may it bring about the destruction of those who hate us and those like us. May we receive answers to some of the questions that trouble us. May we stop wasting time on things and thoughts and people who dissipate our energies and disrupt the harmony we crave. May we notice and laugh at the absurdities swarming around us in this life. May we abandon the idea that we’re going to solve that particular problem or set that certain thing right. Most of all, may we open our eyes and slow down our minds and stay far away from constant electronic stimulation, and may we learn to savor all the little moments of the day, the ones that are wondrous and wild. May the animals be drawn to us because of our stillness and because they can sense good intentions within us. May children see us as sources of wisdom and guiding strength, not as weak fools who scramble for their approval. May we read the unread books we bought last year. May we create some small thing with the particular talent we have, whether that talent is painting or letter-writing or growing things or cooking or singing or mowing lawns. May we be constantly mindful that we are dying, that we don’t have much time left, and that before we know it, we’re going to be ushered into the next life and discover what awaits us there.

Happy New Year, dear ones. May your blessings multiply, even at this hour.
